Cookie Baking Night 10/31/16

Tonight was Cookie Baking Night. In attendance this evening: Carissa, Allison, Rylar, and Enzo.
And it just happened to be Halloween, so there was a little costuming going on.

We made our fall favorite Pumpkin Patch Brownies.

The best part is always putting on the green frosting vines.

It looks like everyone got in on the "dressing up" act.

Halloween is a great time for sharing the gospel. We made up lots of treat bags filled with candy and a gospel tract. The kids were very excited at the prospect of handing out the candy. We made a plan for who would go to the door first, second, third, etc. But, alas, we only had 5 trick or treaters all night (and they came in two batches). But even so...

As usual, a fun time was had by all.

Cookie Baking Night 10/03/16

Tonight was Cookie Baking Night. In attendance this evening: Emily, Allison, Rylar, and Enzo.

Since Rylar started at Cookie Baking Nights, the Mickey Mouse room has been used more as a storage room than a play area. With Enzo's entrance into Cookie Baking Nights, I saw the need for a structured place of play, so I made it my goal get that room cleaned up and in working order by the next Cookie Baking Night. Mission accomplished. Lots of playing with toys, coloring of pictures, and hanging out with each other went on in the Mickey Mouse room tonight.

It's officially autumn now, and we're breaking out our favorite autumn recipes. Tonight, we made apple crisp.

Enzo possesses a joy for Cookie Baking Night that I haven't seen since a certain 2-1/2 year old started about 13 years ago. Don't get me wrong, everyone seems to enjoy Cookie Baking Nights, and they all like it, but Enzo shows a certain enthusiasm for the actual "cookie baking" part that is unlike others. He was cutting apples for the "crisp", and when we took the bowl away from him to empty it into the larger bowl, he broke into tears (every time). When I announced to him that I had a new job for him, he broke into spontaneous applause and squeals of joy (every time). As onlookers, we couldn't help but laugh at his unbridled emotions toward the whole experience. He's definitely one of our more enthusiastic participants.

Tonight we continued in our book "God's Names" by Sally Michael. Tonight's lesson was Jehovah El-Emeth, meaning "the Lord God of truth". We talked about the difference between a lie and the truth. We talked about the fact that you cannot recognize a lie if you do not know the truth.

We learned this about God from Numbers 23:19:

"God is not a man that he should lie,
or a son of man that he should change his mind.
Has he said, and will he not do it?
Or has he spoken and will he not fulfill it?"

Jehovah El-Emeth is the Lord God of truth, and he can be trusted.

Another Cookie Baking Night has come and gone and, as usual, a fun time was had by all.

I just finished cycle 3 of drug X. Today I had my oncology appointment where my labs were checked and the plan was made to continue on with ...
