Cookie Baking Night 06/15/15

Tonight was Cookie Baking Night. In attendance this evening: Emily, Ethan, Carissa, Alli, and Rylar. Today is Greg's birthday and also his Cookie Baking choice. For supper he chose Cheese Dreams (a broiled open faced sandwich with tomato, bacon, and cheese). For his "cookie", he chose "Peanut Butter Marshmallow Squares" (melted butterscotch chips, peanut butter, nuts, coconut over mini marshmallows -- what's not to love?). Unfortunately, Greg managed to allude all the pictures this evening but, trust me, he was there.

While we were waiting for everyone to arrive, Emily led the little ones in a game of Sequence For Kids.

After the "cookies" were cooling, we read from chapter 9 (God Knows All Things) from Leading Little Ones to God by Marian Schoolland. Tonight Carissa read Psalm 139:1-10 from the Bible for us. I can see we're getting a little restless with our second time through this devotional book. They're not engaging their minds with it as much as the first time. Time to look at other material. Stay tuned.

We were going to take Greg up to the local gas station for a birthday ice cream treat but he rushed off to an activity shortly after supper, so we went in his honor (we did buy him an ice cream sandwich -- his choice -- and brought it back to the freezer).

It was a lovely Minnesota evening (sunny and 70ish), so when we returned from our walk, we decided to roll down the hill in the backyard (something we haven't done for a long time). When we got to the backyard Emily said, "I think this hill is smaller than it used to be." I'm sure to the little ones (who hadn't yet engaged in this fun activity in our backyard) the hill looked huge.

Another summer Cookie Baking Night has come and gone and, as usual, a fun time was had by all.
