I broke from the schedule a bit over the last couple weeks. This week I will review chapter 13 and next week chapter 14 along with my final comments on the book.
Chapter 13 is titled "Establishing Agenda and Clarifying Responsibility". This chapter estabilished four objectives and then the author spent the rest of the chapter explaining the first two objectives. Here's the 4 objectives:
- Establish your personal ministry agenda. This provides a sense of direction.
- Clarify responsibility. As people apply truth to life, the issue of who is responsible for what will always arise.
- Instill identity in Christ. Change is a hard process, and people need to be reminded of the resources that are theirs as children of God.
- Provide accountability. Change demands patience and perseverance, so we all need the encouragement, insight, and warning that a system of oversight provides.
I found the section on "clarifying responsibility" very useful. The author used a diagram to explain the concept and then took a few pages to explain the diagram. I found it very helpful personally, and I think it would be a useful tool to explain to others. I think chapter 13 was worth reading just for that section alone.
